Liner notes · What's new
Fresh off the press.
What's changed in lyricspin lately, newest first. Got an idea for the next one? Use the feedback button at the bottom of any page.
v2.20.0
Road trip sing-alongs
The car is a room too. Hand lyricspin to a passenger (never the driver), tap Listen, and the whole car knows verse two. There's a road trip setlist to get you started.
Something for the back seat
A band from Sheffield has a hidden track now. Ask the kids which one.
Put it on your home screen
The FAQ now walks through adding lyricspin to your iPhone or Android home screen, so it opens full screen like an app.
v2.18.1 – v2.19.0
On deck
Back from the bathroom? In a song's last 30 seconds, lyricspin shows what's playing next, or when it's time to flip the record, so nobody misses their song.
The right album, more often
A song would sometimes show up with its single or a playlist's cover instead of the album you're playing. lyricspin now tries harder to find the real album.
v2.15.1 – v2.18.0
A special guest
Our Chief Listening Officer now makes a personal appearance, if you play the right two things on the same night. She has range.
The right cover on the song card
Tapping to listen partway through an album sometimes showed a playlist's cover and the wrong album name. The card now shows the album you're actually playing.
What's new, right here
This page. Every update worth knowing about, in plain English. Tap the version number at the bottom of any page to get back here.
Lyrics lead the singer
Each line now lights up a split second before it's sung, so the room has a beat to read it before coming in. Just like a karaoke screen.
Album-follow finds the real album
Some songs got stuck on their single instead of the album they came from, so the next track never came. They now find the album and keep the side rolling.
v2.15.0
A new logo
Two open grooves around the label, blue to violet to pink. Music brings people together.
v2.14.0
Lyrics on the big TV
A new setup guide for getting lyricspin onto the TV from a laptop, an iPhone or an Android phone, so the whole room can read along.
Fraternity night
A new party plan for the whole house: play the real song, put the lyrics on the TV, and everybody takes the chorus. Plus 18 more crowd favorites, from Country Roads to Thunderstruck.
Everybody on the chorus
lyricspin spots a song's chorus and gives the room a heads-up just before it hits: "Everybody!", "Louder!", "One more time!"
Suggest a jackpot
Want a surprise card for your favorite band? Pitch one from the feedback button. Share lyricspin with a friend first; that's the price of admission.
Sing along to your records
A new page all about the turntable: how it follows a whole album side, plus album pages laid out side by side with every track's lyrics.
More easter eggs
A few more bands now get a surprise when they come on. We're not saying which.
v2.6.0
Spooky season
Look for the pumpkin on the home page all October. The Halloween setlist grew to 31 songs, from Monster Mash to Dragula.
lyricspin vs Shazam
Your phone already names songs, so why lyricspin? A fair side-by-side.
v2.3.0
Share the lines that hit
Tap Share lyrics, pick a passage (up to a whole verse) and send it as a story-sized lyric card.
Album-follow keeps up
The next track's lyrics are on screen the moment it starts, a silent run-out groove brings up the flip prompt, and the side keeps rolling even on tracks that are hard to name.
Tonight's setlist sticks around
The night's setlist survives a refresh or a relaunch, until 6 AM.
v2.0.0
Install it like an app
Add lyricspin to your home screen. It opens full screen and keeps the screen awake while the record plays.
v1.1.0
Tighter sync
Lyrics land on the right line and keep checking themselves as the song plays.
Karaoke-night invites
Send the crew an invite with a calendar link, then share the night's setlist.
Now with 37 tons of new millennium
The app found its Gen X soul, and a handful of bands got their first surprises.
v1.0.0
A whole new look
lyricspin got its record-sleeve style, from the needle drop to the run-out groove.
