Back seat. Front row.

Everybody in the car knows the chorus. Nobody knows verse two. That's where the sing-along used to fall apart, somewhere around the second exit.

How to run it.

  1. A passenger runs the phone

    The driver drives. Hand lyricspin to whoever's riding shotgun or the back seat, and they call the next line.

  2. Turn it up a notch

    Road noise is loud, but it's mostly low rumble, and lyricspin already trims that out. Give the stereo a little extra and hold the phone in the open, not in a pocket or a cup holder.

  3. Let the album roll

    Put an album on and lyricspin follows it track to track, hands-free. Nobody has to touch the phone between songs.

Before you pass the mic.

Does lyricspin work in the car?
Yes. It listens to the car stereo through the phone's microphone, so it works with the radio, CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth or a CD. A passenger should hold the phone and tap Listen; never the driver.
What are good road trip sing-along songs?
Songs with a big chorus everyone already half knows: Bohemian Rhapsody, Life Is a Highway, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), Don't Stop Believin', Mr. Brightside, Take Me Home, Country Roads, and Arctic Monkeys' Do I Wanna Know? for the back seat. The setlist on this page is a good start.
Does it need a signal?
It needs a data connection to name the song and fetch the lyrics. Once a song's lyrics are up, they keep scrolling even if the signal drops for a bit.
